Bikes made by the North Face?
 

I'm hopeing everyone might be able to help with this. I've been out looking for a mountain bike to buy and have come across some real goo bikes. This will be my first mountain bike so I'm looking at more entry level equipment. One bike that I found was A bike by The North Face. I can't find any info on it and am unable to figure out who makes the bike. It has pretty good components, but I still like to find out who acctualy makes the bike. Any Ideas.

Also mabety give me your opinionb on some of these bikes

Trek 4300
Specialized Hardrock
Schwinn Mesa GS
Iron Horse warior sport
The North Face Pompeii

Use the search function and you will find a large number of posts dedicated to North face. Personally I wouldnt ride one. Of the bikes youv'e mentioned the trek, specialized and iron horse are known brands.

If your buying your first real bike, then I would look for frame over components. Of the bikes listed the best frame would be the Hardrock. It can take a beating and keep on tickin'. I would steer you towards that out of any listed. The downfall is it's probably the most expensive of the 5 listed. Of course, the old saying is, "you get what you pay for." Overall, it's your best bet.

Iron Horse is responsible( was, I don't think they make them any more) for the North Face bikes. I believe they were made specifically for a now defunct outdoor company called Gaylans. When they were bought out by Dicks the bikes were held on to and sold extra cheap so Dicks could hurry up and put in the Mongoose stuff all Dicks stores stock. They have different levels and at each price point appear to be adequate bikes. If you are a North Face fan by all means go for it, Vanity Fair thanks you for helping them to turn a once decent gear company into fasionable crap. Me personally I would ride all models I was interested in and go with what feels the best. Unless I'm wrong. I've been wrong once before. I felt bad for about a week. Dear mother of god, please don't let it happen again.......

Thanks for the insight guys! I'd like to get out and try them all out, but up in OH its kinda tuff letting the stores let you take a bike out in the snow. I really liked the specialized, but the components weret as good as some of the others?

Thats alright on the components, with any entry level bike pretty all the components are on the lower end. You're looking for frame quality and the Hardrock is up there.
