Have any of you heard of this company and if so, can you tell me anything about their bikes? I google'd the name and found one favorable review but very little info. other than that. Thanks, John K.

During a store audit I was part of there was one on the list of bikes that should have been there from a couple years ago but wasn't. Nobody else had heard of the brand name either. Yeah, that wasn't helpful at all.

I beleive Coyote and Research Dynamics were a private label that was sold in a chain of outdoor stores in Idaho/Utah area back in the late 80's to at least mid 90's. I sourced bikes from the Dodsun factory in Taiwan in the early to mid 90's and that same factory did final assembly for them. I think there's an old Bicycling magazine buyers guide link somewhere on the www that shows an address for Research Dynamics/Coyote. I had dinner in Taiwan once with the owner and somebody from his staff but his name escapes me at the moment. I'd need to look back through my old business card collection. PM me if you want the details.

From what I heard, they were a decent bike for their day. The last one I saw for sale had an old Rockshox Quadra on it, so that ought to tell you how long ago RD was a viable company. The information I was able to gleen was that RD was a ski company based in Ketchum, Idaho that got into mtn. bikes in the '90s. It appears that they contracted with a Taiwan OEM to build frames for them.
