My most embarassing crash was a long time ago, when clipless pedals were just becoming popular. We were on a great group ride with lots of single track. 4 of us had gotten way ahead of the rest, so we stopped to wait. 3 of us were standing in a line, all of us with our right foot on the ground, the left still clipped in. I shifted my weight a little and totally lost my balance and started to fall towards my clipped in side. After trying to clip out and catch myself I made a vain attempt to save myself by grabing the seat post in front of me. Of course this didn't work and I just knocked that rider off balance and he started to fall towards his clipped in side. He couldn't clip out in time either, so he grabbed the riding shorts of the rider in front of him, which of course knocked him over too. So know there are three of us on the ground, still stuck in our pedals, with the fourth laughing his head off at us.

Earlier this summer i was timing myself to see how quick i could get to a quarry nearby by taking the road. i had to go up a moderately sloping hill that got steeper at the top about a 1/4 mile long. at the top just before i got to the flat i started to pedal like crazy, thinking that for some reason my speep would impress some hot girl whose house i was about to pass. so im standing pumping like crazy and just as i get to her house i for some reason fly over the handlebars into the gravel on the side of the road. my knee went right into a rock and gave me a bad gash. my knee locked up so bad that i couldnt move it, rather than go inside and ask to use their phone or possibly get a ride home (hers was the only house for a couple hundred feet) i took out the shoelace off my bad leg and tied my left foot to the pedal. i dont have clip-ins. to this day i dont know how i made it home since its quite an effort to bike the hills by my house normally.

Isn't it to often that we make attempts to try and impress "hot" chicks on our bikes. More often than we'd like it we bail or make a complete fool of ourselves. Even if we do not bail or mess up we ended up getting laughed at by the "hot" chicks for trying to impress them. When will we learn to try and impress chicks by talking to them?

It was so funny I just about peed in my pants, which would have been my most embarassing moment.

It wasn't really embarassing so much as uncomfortable but I ran over an young girl once. I mean over her, chain ring marks on her legs and big scrapes on her knees and elbows. She was in a crowd of 300 people and ran suddenly off the sidewalk. I tried three times to avoid her while braking, but she matched each of my movements.
I too was scraped up in the fall and have tell you how uncomfortable it was to be in pain from the fall and to be berated by the parents with a screaming eight year old daughter while a large group of people stare at you like you were Atilla the Hun.
It was a genuine accident and afterwards one guy came up to me and said, "I saw everything that happened and it wasn't your fault." I said, "Thanks for being the only person here to think that."

I was riding along on a gravel road when Some horses came up. I was going to just pull pver and stop but for no apparent reason I slammed myself on the ground really hard. The bad thing was there were people everywhere in the horse group.

Hmmmmmm school community day (a saturday where every student go to school and compete in sports representing their house. The sports are like Soccer, AFL, Hockey, Bball....... Parents are also present) Anyway my mate got a new street HT, I was mucking around on it, he had a rear brake lever but no calliper. I was manualling around and went to feather the rear, but isntead I looped out and landed flat on my arse infront of about 200 people. Most of htem knew that I ride bikes too.
Another one, wasn't embarassing at the actual crash but later........ Coming down local track, hit the double at the bottom. This double has changed so many times it's not funny, but I always found that I could hit it flat out and pump it like hell. Usually that would allow me to land either on the landing (this jump is large enough for me to jump over my mates Volvo parked lengthwise under neath) or a bit flat butwith the speed it doesn't feel to harsh flat. Any way, I launch it and land harsh but upright......... then straight into a bush. Well I tore my shorts hard and my arse was hangong out for the rest of the day. Around my riding mate sI didn't care, but riding home we all stoppe at the deli to get an nice Iced Coffee, any way I forgot and think I offended a couple people with my arse

I have a story far farrr more stupid and I think it tops every embarrasing thing here. I was doing my paper route comeing down a hill and I looked down for a while and all of a sudden WHAM, I hit a parked car! and then I looked around and thought to myself "alright this is good no ones around no one saw me" then all of a sudden a lady came out of the house where the car was parked and asked "are you ok?" I said "yea, Im ok" she says "are yoiu sure?" "yea Im fine". then I went down the hill and delivered another paper and I had to go back up the hill to get to another part of my route and theres a guy in the road im like "ohhh crap oh crap oh crap" he says "you hit my car" "you dented and scratched my car you know it cost money for that" "you know a car costs more than your bike" I said "I know" (sounding scared) and he goes "you just gotta be careful" "I know" and I was so releaved he didnt want me to pay for anything of it or tell my parents and luckily these people dont know me at all. and I would like to note that his car was a like 1995 geo metro or whatever hah. Well, did you laugh enough? Im sure no one could possibly do anything more embarrasing than running into a parked car simply from not paying atention. On my ride home I was really shocked at what happened and I kept calling my self an idiot.

I was in grade school and we had been out of school for a week because of black ice.Well for whatever reason I decided to ride my bike that day.
Anyway I am just pedeling along and riding by where the teachers park their cars.they are all lined up along the street.Well I guess I hit the only bit of ice left cause the next thing I know dragging my bike and I down the side of this poor old blue ford.then I crash onto the street.
Well I get up and take stock of myself, nothing broken but my pride.
anouther kid hollers over"that was cool"
I drag my bike away from the car and stand it up course the handle bars are tweeked so I straighten that up and decide I better check the car.yup sure enouph you can see where I went down the side.all the way to metal.great.
Go to the office and tell them what car and what happened.they get the teacher and he of course has to go look.looks at me and says Ya all right?yea. Ok that is all that matters.
Cool.

My son had to endure the race organizers med team after this roll over (see link) the bars, even though his neck and back felt fine. They strapped him to the hardboard and carried him off the course. Ol' pop got the bill for the $500 ambulance ride. He got into the ER and the doc took the strap off. Turned his head both directins and touched his chin to his chest and said you can go now. Doc was in the room 43 seconds for another $220.

Guess we know why the docs have such nice rides!

I think today's run qualifies as most embarrassing for me. I've had about 3 rides in the last two months, so I'm a little out of shape. Ok, a lot out of shape. I started down my favorite trail, and headed down a small hill with a small bridge at the bottom, followed immediately by a 10X8 plank. I was going too slow but I cleared the bridge with ease, but did not mount the plank correctly and rode off the side. No problem, I'll just head to the little mud hole on the side, climb the little incline and head right back on the trail. So I hit the mud hole, only instead of clearing it, the front tire hits the little incline, stops and sinks like I'm in quick sand. The back of the bike comes straight up and I go straight over the handlebars and the bike lands on my leg. So why is this so embarrasing? This happened on the Beginner trail that leads to the Intermediate and Advanced trails. Fortunately, only one person saw it.

I took a guy with an X-mart bike out to a nearby intermediate level trail to expose him to real mbting. We were going pretty slow, for his sake, and we approached a v-tree that I had been through many times. I told him it would be easy--but I'd never been through it slowly. We were going too slow, I ended up at a standstill midway through it fell to the left and tacoed my rear wheel on the tree! What a way to impress and encourage a new guy into MTB riding. Oh well, he's still into it. He'd get a better bike but he's about to move to Russia.

I like the paper route ones. Here is anouther one.
My paper route took me through two trailer courts.both are on hills.the latter half took me down to the bottom of the hill and then I was supposed to ride back to the top and then get out of the court then ride to the last customer at the bottom below the trailer park.
The people at the bottom of the trailer park told me to stop riding through the bottom.they never would say why.
Any way one night I was tired and almost done, thought well this last time won't be any big deal.
I make my turn and wham the bike stops cold.I slam the neck and the shifters hard and all but fall over.
they had put a fence up.the kind that has the big recktangles in it.it wasn't even cyclone fencing, and only about 3 1/2 ft high.crap.
the people cam out and she looks at me and says "I told you not to ride through there anymore."Scr## you lady. You not the one pedeling up these hills.
Believe it or not that same fence is still there.that has been almost 30 years ago.
the people are gone though.took their pet skunk and left, and that is a whole other story.

Near my place there's a little ledge, maybe 20", that I used to practice riding up onto. I went to show a new rider how to get up it. So I start riding up to it and where I would usually pump to pop my wheel up onto the ledge, I just didn't. Don't know why.
So this dude is standing there stradling his bike waiting for me to demonstrate this vital manuever and instead he gets to see me manuever over my bars. The front wheel jsut stuffed this ledge and I got spat out onto it so fast it must have looked rediculous.
