Avid Rollamajig?

Has anyone tried one of these? How did you like it?

I've used one since '97 or so. They work great, but can be a little tricky to set up.

I've been using one (the plastic one) for almost a year. I''ve had it both on a short-travel suspension bike and a hardtail, both with Deore deraillers. Work great, since the cable housing loop is taken out. One thing is that it took a few days to settle in, which I hear is common. My stuff would just no shift right for maybe 5 hours of riding. I just used the bike around town and shifted as much as possible and eventually it settled in and I like it.

Notice much of an improvement?

It seems to me that any improvment would be small?

Well, you know how sometimes you get the housing loop just right... but sometimes you don't. Well, the rollimathingie makes it feel like you got it perfect.

+1 - exactly the same for me. Had to replace torn cable housing, and it worked like a charm - and has for many miles.

It worked great when the Shimano ders. used a weak spring for "light touch" shifting. Since they moved to stronger springs across the line, I haven't found the need for a Rollamajig. The cable loop thing is pretty easy - just match it up to the one that came on the bike in the first place. Of course, if it's a new build I would go long, then shorten until it felt right.
