2006 Entry-level Mavic Wheelsets

Does anybody here have experience with the entry-level Mavic sets? I'm a heavy rider (240 lbs.) on a hardtail, but not really riding aggressive terrain. Need a wheelset upgrade and was looking at the new 2006 Crossrides or a set of Crosslands. However, I'm not sure about the durability with the reduced spoke count. I'd go with some prebuilt XT/Ryno's or something, but I have a connection to a fairly sizable discount on Mavic stuff. Thanks for any advice.
