Univega??

Hi guys, this is my first post to the forum, but there is a ton of great info out here. So i have a Trek 4300 now and i think that i have out grown it. I am looking a getting something better. I have been doing a lot or research on new bikes. I was talking with a friend of mine and he has a univega that he has ridden very little. Not sure of the model (I will hopefully get that info from him today). I have never even heard of this brand. Does anyone know anything about them? Are they good bikes? The reason I ask is I want a better bike but dont know if i can drop $800 or $1000 on a decent HT all at once. So i was thinking that if this thing was decent i could buy it from him and do some upgrades over time (Disk breaks fork etc..) As soon as i find out the make of the bike i will post it. Thanks for all the help and any advice would be great!

Here is some information, remember Google is your best friend.

I always thought Univega's were a little on the heavy side compared to comparable models from other brands. But I have always liked Univega. I think they build pretty good bikes. If the price is right from your friend I would say go for it.

Hey man thanks.....I did do some google searching but did not find what you had found. I dont think that the one he is selling is an 01 though....no disk breaks and different color, maybe it came without a disk option who knows. I am going to take it for a ride and see how it feels...........what would be fair price do ya think?
