I currently run both brands, but no Deore or X-7 rear derailleurs (just LX, XT and X-9). As others have mentioned, properly adjusted, they will both shift with precision and work well. I prefer the feel of my X-9 components and I just find that my SRAM setup can go longer without requiring any attention.

I have had my x7 setup (triggers and derailleur) for a little over a year now. Actually more than that, it has been very reliable. I've not broken any parts, the derailleur has hit some rocks and has some nasty scratches on the aluminum body, but works great still. I rarely do any adjustment too, impressive piece of hardware and in my opinion is the best deal going for shifting hardware.
