Thats a 0 stack. You save about an inch in height. Average stack height is like 34mm this is 7ish I believe. Almost a full inch of height recovered.
Your frame has to be specifically designed for that headset though doesn't it? You can't put an integrated or internal headset into a standard headtube as far as I know.

Oh I didn't read that much in the details. I only did a search for 0 stack. hmmm You are likely right. Ok then I change my opinion to, "you need to find something similar to this". FSA, Crane Creek and e13 might make components similar. I am 100% sure someone does for a 1 1/8 headset threadless.

You might have to do some funky math to get this to work

Cane Creek S6 headset, 26mm
FSA OS-series aluminum stems, 35mm

for example will likely shorten your stack height by quite a bit. Thats a short stack (not 0 stack) headset and a short stack stem.

If you really want to make this work you have some searching ahead of you. Good luck.

Some more stem options to go with the s6 (I believe the s2 is cheaper and has the same stack height)

Sic Slam X and Kore b1b

I would measure your current stack height and see how much you would save by investing some cash in a new headset and stem

Well the stak hieght of the s2 is 26mm and if the steertube really is 6 inches it will stick up about 23mm would it still work?

if i remember correctly, you cannot just easily install this on any frame. i thought it required special machining and/or prep.

See later post Mx Your several posts late...

And ger, you need to figure out your current stack height before I can tell you whether it will save height. On average your stack height might be in the 85mm range. The combination of the s2 and short stack stem might save you up to an inch. Which should help the steerer fit.

lower headset, top headset plus the height of any spacers plus the height of the stem (where the steerer inserts).

You didn't include your steer tube right?...It is the lower headset + upper headset + spacers + stem.

Do not include the frame of the bike.

Ok so you have 75mm stackheight. With reduced stem and short headset you could use this fork with a reduced stack hieght of almost an inch.

You just have to figure out if it is worth the extra cash

Alright well its 30 at pricepoint which I am willing to pay for that. so what tools do I need? And does anyone know of any other short stacks that are cheaper? And I am a little confused about what this replaces, everthing I measured except spacers and stem? everything I measured of the 75mm except for stem and spacers is 22mm.

Depends what you buy. You need to buy both a headset and a stem to make up the difference.

This is also a job for a mechanic. If you don't have the tools to remove or set a headset I would request to watch a mech do it at least once. Its a very easy job, but requires 1 very very expensive tool.

I dont get what your saying. how would getting the s2 take off length. my stem has a stack height of 42mm and the shortest one ive found was 36.

The sic stem I listed is 25mm and the short stack headset is smaller (shorter) than the average headset. 17mm drop by the stem is almost .75in. Another half inch and you are likely over the second bolt, close enough for a solid bolt down.

What you need to do, ignoring the fork since you have it, it shorten the height of your front end, to make the short steerer work for you.

Well I dont see what your saying. The s2 dosnt take length off does it? and I dont think I want to get a stem for 80 bucks where do you get that it is 25mm.

ok after this post I am done...it doesn't do a freaking thing to your fork. Your steerer is to short so what you are trying to do with this fix is shorten the stack height of the bike to adapt to the length of the steerer.

I was told the stack height by another site (ridemonkey) and I can clearly see by the picture it is shorter than just about any stem on the market at only 1 in tall.

Again, you aren't touching the fork, we are trying to adjust the height of the front end (stack height) to become smaller to adapt to the shorter steerer.

Total height of your front end is 170mm (6.9inches)
Total length of the fork is 150mm (if it is 5.9inches)

I am trying to help you reduce the total height of your front end by the ~1inch required to make it safe.

Total height with new stem and headset would be ~145mm

Now your stack height is short enough to fit the steerer.

Make sense?

Dude. I'm sorry that your fork steerer is too short, but this has to be said.

Backing out of the Ebay deal now that the guy has shipped it to you is just plain wrong. This is totally 100% your fault only. Not a teensy bit of the responsibility falls on the seller. He told you that the steerer is at least 6 inches long. You agreed to that. You got the fork and low and behold, even though the steerer is 6 inches it still is too short! ALL YOUR FAULT! Backing out now is poor practice.

It's pretty apparent that you don't even know bike mechanics well enough to even tackle this issue seeing how you don't know anything about stack heights on headset cups. Listen, your best set it to do some homework on this and/or perhaps take it to a bike shop. I think everyone here has bent over backwards trying to teach you about headsets, fork steerers, etc.

Well, ya I know its all my fault I could just resell the thing on ebay. And maelstrom made it look like I dont even know the consept of shortening it, but what I didnt get why he was still talking about the s2 and crap.
