$1000 to spend

Hi I just sold my Cannondale SV400 to a friend for $750. Now I'm hurting more than ever for a new bike.. What would you guys recommend for around $1000.00 ? I'm probably more interested in full susp. I loved the c-dale so....

The dead horse lives!!!!!!!!! Seriously, good hardtail don't start untill about $1500. For that bankroll look into a good hardtail (see Thread: Resurrecting a Dead Horse)

If you're used to Cannondale quality, and want Full Suspension, think "USED".

$1,000 new won't buy you anything you're going to appreciate. The used market is abundant right now and there are some great deals available. A lot of people are desperate to get rid of their stuff, and are giving stuff away!

If you want new, stick with a hardtail, or increase your budget another $500 to get a quality Full Suspension bike!

BTW, what kinda riding do you anticpate? XC, agressive XC, Freeride, DH....etc.

That'll help!

i'd have to say agressive XC to freeride.. (not like any northshores riding or anything..... but).. where might i find some of the mtb's that so many people are giving away?

I've got my Mint-Condition Specialized Enduro Comp w/ a Marzocchi Z3-Air on it for sale... $950.00

I really need to sell it ... (need money for college) ...

It's been taken very well care of.. it's in extremely good shape, has very few scratches, no dents, no out-of true rotors or wheels.

It has Hayes Full-Hydro Disc Brakes, Mavic X-223 Disc Rims, 4" of travel up front, and 4.75" in the rear (both are adjustable for less if you want 3.5" or so inches of travel).

Lemmie know.

for pictures.

e-mail me at: xcaliber@softhome.net

I'm only asking $950, and the shipping is FREE to you as long as you live in the lower 48 states of the USA.

Lemmie' know!

for 1K you've got a lot of options. You can get a great xc hardtail for that price from any company or you can get their extry level decent f/s bike. The 1K hardtail has about the same specs as the 1.5K f/s which means it's pretty good. With the entry f/s bike you will need upgrades but it's definately a place to start till you get the cash. I'm not you so i cant tell you what to do but you just gotta think which route you wanna go. I ride an FSR which is great but it was a 2K bike, but none the less you can get the same frame at the 1K price. It works that way for most of the bike companys anymore, and if it isn't the same exact frame the linkage points and everything else are the same.

BTW i wont mention anything about cannondale A2http://216.40.249.192/mysmilies/otn/angry/unlurk3.gif

Well there you go, ask and you shall recieve.

Hey Thomspins:

That Enduro is a good deal. I very much like the 4-bar Horst link design that Specialized has. IMO it's the best suspension design available. (My opinions on the VPP are being witheld at the moment - I haven't spent any real time on one!)

I bought an Intense fully spec'd with XTR and all top end stuff for 1/2 of what it would've cost new. The bike is in excellent condition, so you can definately get some good deals.

If you're hung up on full suspension, you will have to spend at least $1,200 to get anything of quality. At that price point all the major players have decent bikes. If you jump up to $1,500 you'll really open up your options.

Thomspins - there are a lot of good Cannondale deals out there. I speak from the UK side only.

I think Gemini's are not an option (too recent to market, prices still high, etc). I've noticed the Jekyll's are down in price. Not sure if you'd get much of a Cannondale for 1000 smackeroos. But whatever you go for, there is a lot going for you. You have the bucks, and there's a lot of shops who are happy to talk a deal.

Yeah bro. I've still got my Enduro...

$950 & FREE S&H.

:p
