100$ upgrade to current oldie or new bike?
 

Today my crappy plastic pedal split in half in a 30" drop land, so now I have two options, dishing out 100$ on a set of tires (mine are cracked, worn and not so good anymore), new set of v-brakes (my current ones are also terrible) and of course the new pedals but I'm wondering if its really worth it to stick with my hella old KHS Sport (its maybe from 1996-1997 or maybe even a few years older) or just buy new pedals for it and a new bike (I was thinking Specialized Hardrock for an entry level bike) or just upgrade my current one.

I'm doing a lot more trailing now, some small XC and 20-50 inches (not quite 50 inches yet but very soon) drops and some jumps and my bike is taking a huge beating and its lacking in performance sometimes, I feel like borrowing my friends' bikes for some stuff.

So what do you think I should do?

If you can afford it get a new bike. If you spend a hundred dollars and your bike is still a piece of crap is it really worth it? Probably not! And if you are doing bigger and bigger jumps it is only going to fall apart faster.

Wait are those Tektro any good? at 9$ they seem either a steal or very cheap (in quality), do they come with levers or do I have to buy those too? (or can I use my current levers?)

And what about those Hutchinson tires, again, at 9$ they seem cheap too, are they any good?

They are probably better than what you have now. Very nice prices too. You can use your regular levers.

Pedals ...Mosh half step sealed were under 50$.
Shimano V's, under 40$ 2 sets...eh.

My retrofit was over 600$.
Riding a sub 22 lb bike...priceless.
O.K..the price was 750.

Some bikes are worth it, some not.

To me. 100 is a new front wheel. I've only one working front rim.
I can buy a whole used mtb for a bill, hopefully I can pick one with a good rim!
I've bought whole bikes (cheap) for a part.
Pro Mavic race gear> 1 front wheel is all I need front.
$50? yea.

If you love it? keep it, dislike it? get a new frame.
