48t Chainring max?
I was wondering if there was a way to get a larger chainring without going to road (5-bolt) cranks.

i havent seen anything bigger than 48t with 4 bolt cranks |

With a 44/11 set up I and others I ride with can hit 60mph on a DH course. On the road we could get it up to around 75mph. Why would you need more then that? Plus there are only a few courses you can even get close to those speeds. DBD:beer: |

Well im making a choice on a city/commuter bike and I'm caught between 26" and 700c models (Trek SU200 or Trek 7.3 FX). I want the speed of a 700c bike but the manuverability and controll of a 26", I was just wondering if I could get that with a bigger chainring on the front.

you won't notice the lack of maneuverability. I'm riding a 29er, just switched. There's only a slight difference that I've noticed weaving through trees that are barely a foot apart. You shouldn't need to pinch that close to cars.
