i want to run a single ring up front and a 9speed in back. my question is two parts. what, roughly, would be the bb spindle length be? also, could i get away with using a medium length cage derailer with 34 tooth cassette or would the cage overlap the large cog? im thinking about the shimano xt derailer if that'll help.

i cant answer the entire question. but on the derailleur it depends on what front ring you run with the 34cassette in back.... most likely you will be able to run a med. cage though
