I say Giro the way it is in Giro d'Italia. Kinda like "zhee-roe."
How many people in the world actually know all the pronunciation symbols, and should be punch them?

Call up the companies and see what they say when they answer the phone.

I did that for Ringle (Ring-lay) years ago.

I did the same thing with Thule...I always thought it was pronounced like "tool" until I called their customer service line a while back. The girl picked up the phone and said, "Thank you for calling 'tool-ee' how may I help you?"

I always pronounced Giro as "zhee-row," as a previous poster said. Now I am not so sure...

Yep, chi in Italian is always 'key' and ci is 'chee'. How is SRAM pronounced while we're at it? Is it S then Ram or SRAM as one word?

SRAM is pronounced SRAM, much like BASF or IBM [I think it's on their FAQ]. In contrast, NASCAR is pronounced: bo-ring.

Right. A quick Italian lesson:

before a, o and u --> c and g are hard (as in car and gar)
before e and i --> c and g are pronounced 'ch' as in cheek and g as in 'gym"
BUT an h makes c and g hard again

thus:

marzocchi --> mar-TZOH-key
bruschetta --> brew-SKEH-ta (NOT brew-SHEH-tah like your mom says)
giro --> GEEH-ro (g as in jeep, but the ee is shortened)
Ghisallo -> ghee-sa-loh (ghee as in geek)

Of course, Marzocchi is a brand name, so they can pronounce it however they want.
