V-brake recomendation
 

I'm looking to upgrade my v-brakes. I am looking at Cane Creek, Avid, and Paul Components. I really like the look of these linky. Has anyone here used these, or could anyone recommend a good set. I'm looking to stay below 100$.

Avid ultimates are nice, you might try the paul's though. Let us know how they work if you get the paul brakes.

you wont go wrong with single digit 7 , its cheap, good stopping power and light too.

i had always used avid's until I found a great deal on a set of those shimano parallel push brakes, installed them and was dissapointed, inconsistent power, terrible to set-up and heavy...off they went, went looking for some more avid's, found one sd7 and one cane creek direct curve. I have to say that so far i have been extremely impressed with the cane creek, although i don't think it would work well with larger tires because of it's design. I would love to try the paul's but it isnt in the budget right now (plus I only have v-brakes on one bike.)

I have an old pair of Avid SD 2.0s on my bike and they still have a ton of stopping power. I'm looking at some new Avids for my new bike just cuz the old ones are so good.

I have the Avid Single Digit 7 brakes paired with the Speed Dial 7 levers. I replaced a stock set of Tektros with them and WOW, the difference is not even describable. Way less finger pressure needed and the stopping power is almost dangerous until you get used to it!

yeh def. avids are the way to go.. specifically ultimates.. but if you cant afford them then there is sd7 they have a lil more flex.. but will throw your @ss off if your not careful

Agreed. Avid Single Digit 7 will blow you away. Incredible, I have never felt better braking power on a 'v-brake' bike in my life. To get the most out of them for modulation and adjustment, get the matching Avid SD7 Levers. They give you 2 forms of adjustment, a 'limit' screw on the lever, and that nice red nob that adjusts the lever feel and tension, WITHOUT tensioning the cable :):)
