Pointless?

I just saw this bike in an issue of bike mag I bought. It may be the perfect bike, but what is the point? The price is beyond what most people will pay for a bike like that. I mean, a $10,000 bike? Common!

Frame alone is still 4.1 grand.

You cry and call the insurance company....

Dollar for dollar (since it is THAT expensive) I would bet nicolai has a better/stronger/better warranty option than that

The only bike I've seen that was comparable in price to that, was the Trek Lance armstrong Gold platted edition ROAD bike. It was ~10,000 too. But, that too is kind of redundant. It actually had gold on it. Last time I checked, gold is heavy, and arn't they all about having super light bikes?

Those are nice. I agree it's a waste of money though, I mean if you're doing the type of riding that requires a fairly beefy bike you don't want something disposable do you?
And if you just want a light bike.. isn't LowCel's Ellsworth FS like 25lb?

Although I did get to ride one of those Scotts around at the shop (not the real expensive one, the ransom 20 though.. costs almost twice as much as my entire camera setup, heh). It felt nice to me, but I didn't get to ride any trails with it to really check it out.

I would never spend that much, but I'm glad some others will. Trickle down (cheaper) technology only delivers to guys like me (us, it sounds like) if the initial investment is worth it to the companies. Bravo to the high-spenders. Keep driving that R&D and the dividends eventually reach the average consumer. Buy it, Rockefellers!

I got to ride one of those at the Sea Otter and it does ride nicely and pedals very well. The only way I would get one is if it was a gift or I won the Lottery mainly because I have no need for that type of bike.

24 lb. However it is a very reliable 24 pounds, even at this weight it is very reliable with the exception of the bottom bracket obviously.

if I were to pay $4,000 for a frame, It would be handbuilt, custom, and titanium and would last me for the rest of my life.
