Good Deal or Bad Deal? Kona Hoss

I went to the only cycle shop in town today. They had the Kona Hoss 2006 I was looking for, 1033$ (Canadian dollars) 928.338 (US). What do you guys think of this deal?

I don't really want to haggle on the price. One I am pretty bad at haggling, two I won't be buying it at once, but over a period of two weeks. Any suggestions on asking for anything free to be thrown in with it?

Im going in tommorow to put 500$ down on it depending on your guyes suggestions.

Also, they said they would look at any old beat up commuter I buy and would tune it up for free for me (this is after I said I would be back in a week to put a downpayment on it.)

Thanks for all your guys help so far.

Tyler

Retail price is only $16 more than that. I would expect a bigger discount than that on bike of that price. On the other hand, you're probably going to be needing some accessories. If you do, have them throw in the following if you can:

gloves
helmet
pump
hydration pack
bottle cages instead
pump
gloves
shin guards
tubes
lock if you need it
fenders
or anything you need that is an accessory.

Kona dealers rarely deviate from their msrp. In fact in this area if you get msrp you are getting a deal.

that said you should be able to talk your shop into a few freebies.

Great pic on a bike btw

I OWNED RETAIL PRICE!

lol yes, but usually freebies never fail. Small freebies at least.

For fun, ask if they'll give you a matching road bike.

Threads like these make me love working in a shop. Even though I get paid crap, I don't pay retail

Instead of asking for freebies, ask if you can get a discount on accessories if you buy them all at once. We usually give a break to our nice customers if they buy a bike, helmet, tools, clothes, etc. at the same time.
It's usually easier to negotiate than a freebie because the shop gets more money, and in end is more valuable because you get a better overall discount.
