How do you stop a front fork squeak?

I've got just over 400 miles on my Diamondback Wildwood. The front fork has developed an annoying squeak whenever it hits even the slightest bump. What can be done to silence it? Doesn't seem like it should be making that much noise after only 400 miles (and relatively easy miles at that).

You could take it apart and regrease the spring.

Put some light oil on the stanctions (shiny sliding part). I use a Pedro's Extra Dry lube, but any light lube (not the type with wax). Something like Tri-flow.

Dribble a bit around the seal, compress the fork several times, wipe off the extra.

Same thing happened with a cheap fork a while back. Just took it apart, cleaned all the rubbish off the springs and put loads of greese on them before putting it all back together. It's never worked so well and been so smooth in all its life :)

clean that fork & do the lube thing. Sometimes they will start to squeak if you get a little grit in there - it's also a warning that the dirt may be putting a groove in the metal. I've paid for ignoring these strange noises coming from my kids' bikes....
