Changin forks
I have a DDG shooter trials which im converting to use as a hardtail MTB. I removed the stem (a-head not quilled) as I am trying to put on my new rst suspension forks. But when i took off the spacers there is no nuts or anything to loosen in order to release the rigid forks that are on the bike just now. Theres a little circular thing where the top screw of the stem went down into that I cant get out. What do I need to do next to release the forks?? help ASAP please!

Stuart there is usually a split wedge collar that supports the steer tube. you should be able to tap with soft mallet and the fork will drop right out. |

If your rst's don't have one already, I recommend that after you make your final cut on the steerer tube, you take the fork to your LBS and have one installed - they're relatively cheap, probably around five bucks. |
Good advice Gastro,your doin' great!

Star nuts suck. Get an azonic head lock, they're really quite excellent.
