DISC brake question

Does anyone out there know if you can put disc brakes on a 2000 trek elite 9.8? i know that some bikes have an adapter that you can put on them but i'm not sure about this bike in particular. thanks for the info.

The fork and frame must have disc tabs, however I'm not sure the 2000 Elite 9.8 has them, in any case you can always buy an adaptor for the rear (like the one mx599 has on his schwinn) and a new fork (or possibly adapter) too for the front.

Do keep in mind you'll also need disc compatible hubs.

yeah....do a search on this forum for "brake disc adapters" and you should find my bike and 3 links to different companies that make adapters for non-tabbed frames

stressing and torqueing carbon in ways it wasn't designed. Do you realize how much torque disc brakes put on stuff? Did you not see the tread with the broken disc tab? Not a good idea.
