I'm going nuts.

Hey all,

I have been in Peru for 8 days now, 7 more to go and I'm going nuts. Anyone who has been here knows it is BEAUTIFUL. That's great, but it would be so much more beautiful if I had a bike! I am now in Puerto Moldonado, just outside the Amazon Rainforest. Just got back from spending 3 nights at the Sandoval Lake Lodge inside a reserve in the Amazon. It was nice we saw squirrel monkeys, howler monkey, capuchin monkey, dusky titi monkey, black caiman, ton of birds, red tailed boa, toads, chicken spider, tarantula, and the endangered giant river otter. They are all nice but what is nicer is some of the trails in there! My gosh, tight singletrack, winding it's way through primary and secondary forest, nice root stepdowns, it's driving me nuts. Can't wait to get back.. Although it is is quite beautiful here... Oh and it would be sick to ride in Machu Picchu! Some serious trial riding to be had there... There is a lbs lbs, well it's more of a local bike shack, rather than shop. I'll snap a pic of it and put it up when I get back.

I would say aside from the views and scenery here, the best thing is how cheap it is. Internet here is $0.70 for an hour. Fillet mignon for $5, in Cusco, Peru I had a half a broasted chicken, french fries, salad, and coke for $4.75. My mom, dad, sister, and I had have a full meal, including alcohol, for about $12. Brazillian nuts are like $1.00 a pound, will be stocking up on those, and saffron is also very cheap here...

Got to go, time is up, I'll be back on tomorrow since there is nothing else to do in this town...

Matt

About the weed... Havent seen any yet. I did have some Coca tea which is tea made from cocaine leaves. And Ive had a few beers and cocktails and im only 16, they realy dont care what age you are as long as you have money. In Cusco, for a pack of marlboros I got a 10 year old selling them down to $1.50 for a pack. But I dont smopke so I didnt buy them.

Off to a butterfly farm today! woo hoo... I would rather go pirhanna fishing but my mom doesnt want to...

Haha duh!

I would have got one but except for urban riding in Cusco there was really no where to mtn bike. If there had been a bike rental plce in the Amazon that would have a different story!
