Mongoose mountain bike problems
 

Does anyone have any experience with new Mongoose mountain bikes? I have had nothing but trouble out of mine. Also all my freinds have had problems out of theirs.

No! They rock hard!

I have an ALD pro (Mongoose from a proper LBS) and it's been great.
No drivetrain (Acera), Brake (Promax Disk) or fork (Mozo) problems of any sort....
I upgraded the handlebars, stem and tires and that's about it.

I have a '99 DX 6.5 and a '06 Black Diamond Triple that i have never had a problem with. I love the bikes and they stand up to the abuse that i put them through

Just depends on if you have a decent higher-end Mongoose, or the crap they sell at Walmart, I suppose..

I bought a Mongoose Hilltopper in '96. In 99 I put a Mantiou suspension fork on it. in 2001 I put slick tires on it. I probably rode it 2000 miles a year, and other than simply wearing out parts (or breaking them) the bike was great. About 2 months ago I went for a ride and the weld between the chainstay and dropout broke while i was on a ride, and when I looked the other side was cracked. Mongoose said the frame would be replaced free, but the new frames have different components so nothing would fit. It was cheaper to buy a new bike. The break was probably due to the fact taht I rode it very hard, and weigh over 250 lbs. Overall I was happy with it, Am considering whether to have the frame welded for a backup bike.

I guess that what it really boils down to is if this is a Walyworld Mongoose or a real LBS one. The LBS ones hold up well while the Walyworld ones are ****e.

What is your problem anyway? You ask a vague question about Mongoose bikes, then you say that you've had nothing but trouble with yours. What kind of trouble? Are parts falling off? Are you not happy with how it handles? Did the frame crack? Do you want an answer or are you just here to *****?

THIS TOPIC HAS BEEN DONE TO DEATH! Do a little searching (if you can be bothered) about Walmart bikes on the forum.

I just broke up an older Sycamore that I recently purchased if that counts. I took it for a couple of rides before dismantling it, not a bad bike. It was definetly sold through an LBS. I need the parts for a Nishiki Ariel build up.

First of all some answers would be good. This is a forum not a place to go blame your problems on others.
And how am I going to know that this topic has been done to death. I am new to this site. So quit your *****in, or at least quit *****in to me.

I like it.

Excellent choice, but then I'm biased since I own two Specialized bikes. The Hard Rock has many fans on the BF, you'll get plenty of support if you want to make changes. I doubt you'll have any serious problems with this bike.
