Broken Rib

I have a broken rib. I can't ride, right? Any suggestions?

I broke a rib just over 6 weeks ago. Went two weeks without riding, then rode on pavement with pressure low to keep a very smooth ride, and even then only 11-12 mph. Just keeping the legs spinning. At 5 weeks a tried getting on some trails, went easy, now all seems healed up and ready to go. BTW, I am 42, broke some ribs when I was 32, this time took longer to heal up.

It shouldn't take too long to heal up (depends on your age I guess) When I fractured my rib I was on the road in a week and on the trails in 2 then finaly jumping again in 3 weeks. I'm healthy and 16 by the way so I heal pretty fast.

Just drink lots of milk:D

Just don't fall on it- you could puncture a lung (that's a call 911 emergency.)

When I broke one of my ribs, I risked it and still rode trails. Not something I'd reccommend though, a punctured lung is much much more trouble.

no way you shud ride with a broken rib - let it heal - it doesn't take long....

Buy some biking videos and sit back and relax for awhile. Or go outside and try and get some chicks to feel sorry for you becuase you got a booboo, I have tried that before. It works.

Ah the blessings of being young. At 55 I cracked two ribs tripping over dads' wheelchair. Took 6 months to heal completely.
