32T bashguard for a 32T chainring?

32T bashguard for a 32T chainring?
Before i click "order" i want to make sure that im getting the right size. Ive decided to ditch my big ring for more clearence etc. A 32T bashguard will protect a 32T chainring carrying a chain right? Or should i go slightly bigger, say a 34T?

go slightly bigger, its worth it. just incase you want to change you ring and also will give just a tad bit more protection for chain and chain ring!

Doesnt look like many companys make 34T bashguards (including e13 unless i just cant find one). The only 34T i found is a race face, but its made of aluminium when i was really thinking about thermoplastic (like the e13, FSA, or Truvative).
So i ask you? 34T 7000 series aluminium Race Face, or 36T e13. Looking for ground clearence and slideability over roots/logs etc.

Please only reply if you own a bashguard. Im really not interested what your friends cousins grandmother uses.

My 32t FSA bashring is oversize just enough to where I'm pretty sure it would protect a 34 too. However, FSA DOES make a 36t bashring as well. That would give you a lot of latitude in chainring choice.

My father's son has never had any issues with the aluminum MRP bashrings, but there are two of them, and that may make a difference. He also has a thermoplastic MRP which seems to be holding up well.
He also used to have a Truvativ thermoplastic but it grenaded on a rock so he doesn't recommend that option. The e.13's are much stronger, but also significantly more obtrusive if that's a consideration (but available in 32T if clearance is your primary concern).
The "slideability" of the different materials is not really that important, IMHO. At speed, it either works or it doesn't.

I had a Truvativ thermoplastic one and I destroyed it a day. It cracked right where I hit a brick ledge. I don't really recommend one. I've got a e.13 one now and love it.

I have that exact race face gaurd (in 34 or 32, not sure) and love it. It's much stronger than the plastic ones, and looks nice too. I run a 22 and 32 tooth ring w/ a stinger guide system. Haven't droped a chain or hit my rings yet (although I have had my share of log/rock bottomings).
On my dirt jump bike I have the 32t truvative plastic. Its pretty weak and broke in a couple of months. Go w/ the race face on in 34 if possible, and if not, go w/ an e thirteen.

I had an e13 36t on a 32t ring and the thing is HUGE... it created clearance problems for urban trials type riding. I now have a 36t e13 on my trailbike which has a 36t chainring and it doesn't clear the chainring by much but its more than enough to protect it. If you are running a 32t ring I personally would get a 34t ring MAX.

my friend's cousin's grandmother uses a raceface 34t with her 34t chainring on her trek... does that help?
it's fine i think but the teeth are pretty much perfectly lined up with the bashguard, so if u scrape a rock from underneath it would damage the chainring.
just kidding at the beginning though. it's my friend's.
i still say what jag89 said - hey btw u born in 1989? if so me too! and um yeah.. a little distracted. go for the slightly bigger one.

I own the Raceface bashguard and it's treating me well, it gets chipped pretty easily and I can't attest to it's slideability but it does it's job well, it's hella strong and if I manage to break it I think there are other things to be worrying about. It's clearance is... well, that of a 34T bashguard.
Tell me how it goes with the 32T ring + 32T bashguard, I want to step up to a 34T ring but I'm not sure if I can.

I have an FSA on my Bullit and girlscout is running the e13 on his Enduroand the seem to do well. The e13 is the same one I had on my ss I used for uban riding and it has held up to a beating.
