Pictures of my new bike-something a little different-56k warning!

So, it's not extremely different, but it does have a steel frame and I haven't seen a ton of Marin's posted here. It's a 2006 Marin Pine Mountain FX. The pics aren't perfect, but it's with a borrowed camera, so it's what I have. I wish the outdoor logo shots turned out better. The logos are white pin-stripe lettering which I like quite a bit more than the grey logos of the bike shown on Marin's site. Man, just previewed. Guess I should have sized the pics down. Don't have time now, but may do that tomorrow.

heyy, looks pretty sik. not somthing that I have seen. BTW you might want to try and resize those pictures cuz they do take a while to load. (I have broadbands btw) lol. Just a heads up

Namenda 07-17-06 08:18 PM

Nice ride, I like it. And yeah, the pics are HUGE.

Jason222 07-17-06 08:34 PM

How much did that cost?

dgsmith15 07-17-06 08:55 PM

Awesome bike! I've always liked the look of Marins.

Even with broadband, it's still pissing me off from loading the enormous pictures. I would cut myself if I had dial up.

SneakyMilo 07-17-06 09:23 PM

You must have some terrible broadband. I'm on a cheap DSL connection and the pictures came up with almost no wait.

ed 07-17-06 09:32 PM

For me it's not a load issue, it's that fact that I have to scroll left to right to see the whole friggin thing. (yes I have a widescreen) Some pic's are just annoyingly big.

Please fix it and edit your post.

Love the bike BTW...I want some steel.

Curtis_Elwood 07-17-06 09:49 PM

Yeah, sorry about the pics. I was in a rush. I'll edit them tomorrow. Some people like extreme detail, so maybe they'll overlook the huge pics for now.

Jason222, Retail is $1,810. I was able to do a little better than that since I bought it on an EP deal. I'm teaching kayak classes once in a while this summer and that's my payment to the shop. Not a bad trade if you ask me. I am kicking myself for sending a rookie instructor in my place last weekend. A STL Ram's cheerleader showed up and rookie got to teach her how to roll a kayak. That's a lot of pressure for a 19 year old. But I digress....

Beautiful ride! I'd love to know the weight on that if you get a sec...

Curtis_Elwood 07-18-06 06:42 AM

Just updated the pics. Yeah! Thanks for the comments. It weighed in at 26.5 lbs with pedals. Probably a couple ounces ligher now that I snapped off the test platforms. It's a full 3 lbs lighter than my last bike and I can really tell the difference. Climbs very well. Now, I'm just tweaking the headset spacers a bit and I'll see if that helps me get forward and climb even better. Not an ultralight bike by any means, but for an all around agressive XC bike, it's works well for me. As things break (hoping that'll be some time), I'll keep upgrades light.

very nice curtis
I always love a nice steel hardtail.

Grasschopper 07-18-06 07:12 AM

Great bike. I wish my Marin ALP was steel. Marin makes a great bike and the spec of yours looks very nice.

EJ123 07-18-06 07:43 AM

What"s that brownish goo stuff above the rear derailer lol?

Figured someone would notice that. And, no, it's not rust. It's Frame Saver. It's a rust inhibitor that you spray in the tubes. There's a drain hole right above the RD and there was a little seepage. Wipes off easily, though. Just missed a spot.

FalconAR 07-18-06 11:13 AM

Rad bike man. I haven't heard much of Marin lately, but know they make some sweet rides. While it's not even similar to yours, I rode around on Shaum's March Marin Quad XLT and it was a solid bike that rode sweet. I'm sure you'll love the steel.
