Stuck on deciding between these bikes!! help!!!
Hey guys,
I'm new to posting on the board, but not new to reading.... I am planning on purchasing a bike for myself in the range of $1300-$1800, and one for my girl in the range of $600-$1000. I am pretty set on Gary Fisher, have tried a couple out and love the way they ride. I like the Tassajara disc GS for my girl, and for myself it's a toss up between the Ferrous, X-Caliber, and Paragon. I know they're completely different bikes, and the price difference is about $500 but what are your thoughts on the differences in the components between the three and what wont i notice as much in the componentry? Also, I know it's the difference between a 26" and a 29", so i'm in a real jam!!!! Here is the link to the comparison of specs between the three: http://fisherbikes.com/compare/resul...&bike=XCaliber my LBS gave me a quote of: X-Caliber is $1249.99, I have a 17 and 19 in orange or a silver 19. Paragon is $1629.99, I have a 15 in yellow or a 19 in red. Ferrous is $1599.99 however I am out stock and so is fisher. Also, there is a sale I guess in 2 weeks, so i'll def wait for that. Anyone give me a few pointers on what I could sacrafice in exchange for the other?. Thanks!!! |
Personally I would go with the Paragon. It has great components and its a 29er. if you're not going to be updating the parts i think this is the way to go.

Paragon cuz Juicy 7 rocks!
You can sell those juicys out and 2 sets of bb7 back |
reba race is nice too

Unless you are totally locked into the idea of a 29" wheel, I would consider trying the Specialized Stumpjumper. It has a remarkable good parts spec and one of the best frames out there.
