Scored on a new Marin Hawk Hill on sale!

This is my second Hawk Hill, first was a 2004 that I gave to nephew. Sierra Trading Post had a 20% off sale this past weekend and the 2005 Marin was $410. with 20% off that for $338. online. It gets better, shipping was $14.! I think the HH is a great upper entry level bike with Marzocchi 100 comp, Deore rear der, hubs that are disc ready, and TruVative crank. Hey, for $350. I don't see anything close. They run the 20% off sale frequently and if they happen to have your model/size, you can save big. Happy here.

same here...

I also bought a Hawk Hill for $332 delivered. I was nervous about how much work would be required to assemble, and in the end I was VERY pleased. It came with only 3 things to do: mount the front wheel, mount the handle bar, put on the pedals. The brake cables and shifter cables were all installed already, and I was surprised that they were essentially well adjusted right out of the box. I have not adjusted anything, but i plan to ride it for a few weeks and then take it in to my LBS for a "professional" adjustment.

My first ride was OK, but not completely impressive. This bike is pretty lightweight, and my previous MB is a Schwinn Mesa -- a steel frame biike that is about 33 lb vs the 29lb hawk hill. Somehow the hawk hill felt a little ...well, "flimsy"?? something like that. Well, the next day I rode it longer, and it felt considerable better. I really think I'm going to finally adapt my expectations to this aluminum frame bike...and love it a lot.

By the way, Sierra Trading only has the 18.5" size. I am 240 lb and 6'1" and it fits very well. My Mesa is a 19" frame, and the Hawk Hill is definitely larger. I compared the two bike spec for spec and the hawk hill is bigger.

To get the info on the 20% coupon, go to fatwallet.com and do a search on sierra trading....I think it still works as of today. I purchased my hawk hill about 10 days ago,a nd it was quickly delivered within several days.

Anyway, I think i got a bargain, and it is still out there for others, too.
