Saint vs Diablous - xtype - Review
Having used and installed both myself I am going to give a quick review. I can't review longevity but the installation was brutal enough for one that I need to make this point.
Diablous and Saint are both dead sexy, I got them both for around the same price and I have to say find x-type to be a decent setup, I am really impressed with both overall designs. However for installation purposes saint smokes diablous out of the water. Seriously, I found micro adjust diablous to be a brutal experience, installation was ok but the interface between the crank and the axle is just stupid. Saint uses, I think, a bmx style bolt and clamp which for installation and removal are SIGNIFIGANTLY easier than saints 10mm plus 8mm torquing till your arm is broken but never quite tight interface. I messed up the spacing on saint (on purpose) ... 3 minutes later it was adjusted, I messed up the spacing on diablous, half an hour later I had tendenitis and the small red spacer was on the ground and I had to start from scratch.
I am not sayings its impossible, with some degree of experience the raceface x-type seems pretty cool, but they could have engineered it a bit better after playing with the saint. I normally (read NEVER) support shimano, but they have created a perfect crank/x-type interface for me.
For those with experience with profiles, you would find diablous easy money, but coming from set and forget isis it was a pretty brutal experience in half assed engineering

You put Saint cranks on your XC bike? I was almost publicly shunned for it. I still have 'em on there and I still love the crap outta those monsters. I'ts like having 2x4's for cranks arms. Soo stiff.

haha my xc bike isn't really a xc bike. Its my xc bike because it is lightish and handles the xc in the area well. Its a fr ht frame. Beefy and strong. Coming in at a slight 36pnds. The cranks don't look out of place with the z150

Oh, I guess that explains it hehe.
Mines a Dakar XLT 5" with a Vanilla R 130 up front. I got the Rhyno Lites with 2.35" Nevegal's...she looks kinda mean for an XC bike. Good for Kansas though.
