Help choosing new shoes
I blew out the top strap on one of my shoes last week. Duct tape works well until I can get some new shoes in. The leather that holds the rectangular metal piece in that the velcro strap pulls against ripped a bit and the metal piece bent, thus preventing me from clamping down the top strap. I have liked the velcro top strap vs. the ratchet strap most high-end shoes use. Less things to break, so I thought. Now, it looks like I'll be looking at shoes with the ratchet since I don't want to replace shoes because the buckle blows out. I haven't tried anything on yet, but my available brands are Pearl Izumi, Shimano, and Sidi. A little mesh is good, but I need something I can use all year, so full mesh is out. My budget is between $100 and $150. Maybe $170 if I find something I really like. Anyone have any thoughts on the shoes below or any suggestions of other shoes from these manufacturers?
Pearl Izumi:
Flow Mountain-$150 (interesting lace closure system)
Amphere-$115
Shimano:
SH-M225-$170
SH-M181L-$135
Sidi:
Bullet2-$150 (all velcro)

I have a pair of Northwave's, that I bought on closeout for $100. Super comfy, but durability was an issue, so I can't really in good conscience recommend them.
I have a pair of Sidi Road shoes that are great! Genius 3's. A couple years old and holding up wonderfully.
Plus, Sidi's come in wide widths which I preferred.

I bought some Lake MX165's and am really impressed with the build quality and comfort. They are a little on the heavy side, but have a great Vibram sole for when you have to walk. About $100

Thanks for the suggestions thus far. I have to stick with these three brands, though, as I'm getting employee pricing.
