new disc brakes
Would it be alright if I just bought disc brakes for my rear wheel, and use the same brake lever? If i can do that how much would it cost?

i think it depends on the brakes. Some mechs work with regular v brake levers but hydros dont.

ya it would work if ur talking about mech. but you would also probaly need to buy a new diskbrake compatible hub for the rear, and a longer cable.

Putting the disc in the front would make more sense. You should be using your front brake more than your rear. 80% of your stopping power comes from your front brake.

)You should also check if your hubs are disc-ready. If you decide to get mechanical discs, you can still use the same brake levers, provided that they are sidepull (v-brakes). I don't think you can use centerpull levers. If it fits your budget, get Avid BB7's. They're the best non-hydraulic discs brakes out there, IMO.
