Hydro questions
Just got myself a brand spanking new XTR hydro and I was just wondering how long is the "break in" period. I took it out for a spin for an hour and it's still having trouble locking up. I also want to know how will you know when you will need to bleed it due to air bubble inside.
thanks,

on a relatively flat surface go fast and quickly squeeze and release the brakes several times to "season" the pads by heating them up. do this about 10 times. this will do about 90% of the break in of the pads. as far as bubbles, when you have to pump up the brakes to get them to stop they need bleeding.
when my Hayes were new( new bike) I had to pump the back brake twice to get them to get full power. the shop fixed it in under a minute by loosening the bleeder valve and a slight squeeze. it was a little air, no biggie. Ive had the bike over 2 years now with thousands of off road miles and have not had to re do not or have it done
