Camelbak Lobo
 

Did a search and after reading a bunch, pretty much decided to get the Lobo. Just wanted to ask Lobo owners if they think ill have any trouble carrying the following.

keys
phone
wallet
sunglasses (when it clouds over)
camera
tube (x2)
CO2 pump
CO2 cartridge (x2)
Park TL-5 levers (the big metal ones)
multi-tool
light sweater or jacket

I don't want to go bigger than i need, so i thought the Lobo would be the go. If i can't get all that in there, i'll go MULE. What do you think?

I have a Mule, and can fit everything you listed in it pretty easily, so I would think a Lobo would work fine too. The Mule does sinch down pretty nice, so I don't think that it being too big is a problem. I'd rather have too much space than not enough. But yeah, a Lobo should work fine...

No way you have room for all of that unless you shove it in the bladder compartment too. But that takes up water room and gets uncomfortable on your back. In my Lobo, without using the bladder pocket, I have room for the following:

2 tubes
CO2 cart
Multitool
Cell phone
Maybe a couple Gu's or a Clif bar

That's about packed to the max. You'd be surprized how little 150 cubic inches is. I'd reccommend something in the 500 cu in range. You might be able to find an expandable pack, that way it'll be small enough for racing and big enough when you need to carry everything.

You could look into the Camelbak Chaos. It looks to be a really nice small one but can hold a lot. Looks pretty damn sweet also! It's just another option.

North Face Hammerhead will carry all that easily, while being about 2/3 the thickness of a fullpack like the Camelback Mule. I've got one and I use it for running 15+ miles (a lot), biking, and hiking. It was recently on sale at REI for around $65, but normally is $80+. I love the thing - it's got everything you;d want on the strap management and pockets, both the sternum and waist straps, and a maximum capacity 100oz reservoir that outlasts me even on 2.5 hour runs with a clif bar to wash down.

Don't buy any thing too big, the bigger the pak you buy the more useless things you will carry.

I have a Hammerhead too, bought it from REI for MSRP of $85, but I went back in and got $20 off when they went on sale for $65 over last weekend (don't think they are still on sale, I was just there today and it looks like the REI brand hydration packs are on sale at the moment).

I love the size, and how it fits, but the strap ends tend to flop around, and I wish the mesh side pockets were a bit taller so they could hold a Gatorade bottle securely. I use a bunch of rubber bands on the straps for now, but I might modify the pack a bit with Triglides. That would involve cutting the sewn stops off the ends though. The outside mesh pocket and the X-bungee are awesome. The reservoir is a pain to dry, although I'm sure that most reservoirs are. I bought a Camelbak Cleaning Kit for the hanger, you have to cut the hanger to fit the somewhat shorter 100 oz. Nalgene reservoir. The swiveling magnetic bite valve is awesome.

I have a lobo and really like it but I try not to carry too much stuff. It'll be jam packed full with all of that, the jacket would have to be wadded up and held on with teh bungy cord thingy. I'd go bigger if you really intend on carrying all that.

It does have a fancy holder for a minipump, which is what sold me.

I think MULE is the way to go.

I love my Deuter hydration bag (HydroBak 3.0) well just check the line ok. So far its performing well, no leaks what so ever and its bite valve doesnt leak water ^^

I have a Lobo, for short rides its great, but for a day long outing, I wish that I had something a bit bigger at times, Ill find myself using all of the water as well. Just my .02

I think the Lobo won't fit all of that, I'd go for an 06 MULE.

What did you wind up buying?

useless until you need it or one of the folks on the same trails as you needs it. then its priceless
