need a frame
I'm looking for a frame for a bike build (Please don't give me crap about how buying a complete bike is cheaper...get an 06 bike on sale, yadda yadda yadda). I'm trying to stay under $300 for said frame. So far I'm looking at https://www.pricepoint.com/detail/141...tail-Frame.htm and https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...20Frames/Bikes. If you have any reasons why I should get _____ instead of _____, please say so. I do XC, 5' 7", 135 lbs, roots, gravel, sand, switchbacks, etc. If you have any other suggestions for frames, give me those too. Thanks all

What is your budget for the entire bike? Are you concerned about weight? Are you an agressive rider? Do you hope to do drops or jumps in your future?
The reason I ask.....
Budget, if money is tight I would go for the cheaper frame so you will have more money for everything else.
Weight, because the Sette frame is pretty darn heavy.
Aggressive, because it looks like the Sette will take some abuse. Same goes for the drops and jump question.
I'm not a fan of that Nashbar frame, just doesn't do anything for me. If I were going that route I would rather purchase a Leader or a nice used frame.
*edit* Oh yeah, all of these opinions are based on the fact that you don't want to hear about it being a better idea to purchase a complete bike.

Boy, they are sooo close. Just a matter of whether you prefer steel or aluminum - - and are willing to pay over two times as much for steel, I guess. Cool that the NB has investment-cast dropouts. Personally, I'd probably go with the PP frame.

you can get a magnesium frame from ebay for 140 shipped. 19" frame weight was 3.1 lbs. Very stiff frame, very light. Acceleration is outstanding. I've done a few small 2-3ft drops on it without a prob. I use it for the training and racing bike. Bike was built in the spring and still holding out good. The build cost 450 bucks + the 525 Reba fork I put on it. Weighs 23lbs, climb very well and sprints like no other. Not bad for a sub $1000 racer. If I crack the frame, I'll be getting another one w/o hesitation. I know another guy that has had his almost 3 yrs and it's still going. I might buy another to build a cyclocross still trainer or make a single speed out of it.
Buying a complete bike for under 1k is full of cheap part that will need to be upgraded rather quicky, might as well hand pick the parts and do it right. Look for clearance deal and on ebay.

I have that Sette Reken frame, it's a very nice frame considering how much it costed. My latest buy is the Kona Kula frame for $199, another real nice frame for cheap. For under $300 there's actually quite a few good frames out there, here's some off the top of my head in your price range- supergo/access frame, Ibex alpine frame, marin b-17, khs alite 500, Kula, Zion 660, and that's all I can think of right now but there's tons out there so search well. Good luck with it.

No jumping, I am not a weight weenie, but I don't want a heavy bike. No jumping. To be totally honest, I have no budget for the entire bike. I didn't expect this to be a weekend project. I actually have it planned to be at least a year or so before I have all the parts for it. I was looking on ebay and came across this (no, you're not allowed to bid
