Hey... I'm just responding to the "you're an alki" post and all the fallout. I didn't say either way whether I think she is or not.

I've had my share of painful hangovers and all... now I choose not to because it just hurts too damn much. But, there's no meetings for me, no steps, no holier than though, no trying to get you to quit if I think you drink too much.

Post your pictures. Drink all you want, I don't care.

But post things like "post a pic of your favorite beer and your bike" or say things like "my bike wants me to drink" and some people will think you're either an alcoholic or headed that way. That's for you to deal with.

That Dogfish Head 120 Min. IPA is some good stuff!

I have to laugh at how "deep" this post has become.

I'm suprised I wasn't "psychoanalyzed" for the possibility that my bike "speaks" to me. Now that I have brought that to your attention, go ahead and start questioning my sanity.

You are entitled to your opinion and/or maybe the way I wrote the op was easy to misconscrew. I don't care either way. I will take your comment as concern rather than distain and assure you, 1 beer MAYBE 1 or 2 times a week does not an alcoholic make - in my opinion. 1 or 2 beers a day, in my opinion, does not necessarily make an alcoholic. Alcoholism is every individualized. What 1 person can "take it or leave it" and have no effect, can be a horrible addiction to another person. That is my opinion based on 15 years in the social work field. Again, this is my opinion, someone elses opinion may be different. Again, I don't care.

I happen to like a good beer occasionally. I have other friends who also like good beers and the whole bike/beer thing started because I like to sample other beers I have never tried, much like people do with wine and I get suggestions of other beers to try.

Reality is, a lot of people drink beer, wine, whatever. I did not ask anyone to start drinking and get drunk. I'm not sure how this evolved to that point, but sheesh, come on.

If you find it offensive, I'm sure you have personal reasons which are none of my business, you don't owe me any explainations for your opinions, I don't owe you anything either.

So far, I have never even seen any of the beer's posted or mentioned in this post, but I will be looking for them, they look tasty.

Let's just have fun with this post. If you're are not adult enough to handle this post, stay out of it. If it offends you, move on. If you have a drinking problem, sorry and I hope you get help and this might not be the right place for you.

As to what I look like??? Hmmm. What do YOU look like?? Check out my blog, you can see lots of cool photos of life in Alaska and where I ride, check out the archives. Plus I just posted a pic of my bike workshop that is being built!!! Fair warning - I'm a dork.

my friend got shipped out in the spring to do surveying in alaska. he's got his bike and he's so damn happy. i'd love to try some riding up there.

as for my bike and beer, unfortunately i got hit by an suv on my roadbike and haven't had mud on my mtb for a while now, but i'm sure it wouldn't mind posing with a bbc steel rail growler i'll have to get my photo making doodad...

Sure would be cool if they came to Alaska. They probably have more people attending 1 of their concerts than the population of most Alaskan towns. Civilization has it's privleges.

No pics but a very fond memory of doing a ride ... horseback but still fun.

Starting out we stopped at a windmill driven horse trough in the upper pasture. My buddy went over and fiddled with the cistern, "to make sure it was working". So we climb up 8,000', spend 2 nights and a hot day up on top then another 8,000' of descending, we stopped by that cistern and I found the coming home present he had left in that cool well water. It was only some Budweissers, but it was the best Bud I ever tasted

There are only five pics of beer on this entire thread and even fewer bikes. Time to compensate.

This is how we rock it here in the city. Five sixers, four tallboys, and four cans of sparks.

I like a nice New Castle or Flying Dog or Sierra Nevada or....whatever anyone hands me.

I usually bring one or two for "post ride" refreshments.

Or it might not.... Problem is, you can't really tell and when you deny a problem, well, that's a symptom in and of itself. Kind of a catch 22.

Saying I like a beer or two after a ride? No problem.

Saying my bike likes me to take pictures of it and my beer? That could be interpreted as shifting the "blame" or the responsibility for your drinking to someone else - which can be considered a symptom of early alcoholism.

Anyway... I usually prefer (need?) water after my rides. Water without hops added, that is!

HOLY buzzkill Batman, pardon the pun
