Bought BMX 22.2mm stem - return or get bars?

I stupidly bought a BMX stem with the wrong size clamp. I have a never used but cr@p Bontrager riser bar I was going to use with the new stem but it'll be too big just like my current flat bar is.

So I was wondering whether I should stick with this stem (I love the look) and get a compatible bar like:
or get a replacement stem.

I used this for light XC, getting into some technical single trail, and I'm about 200lbs.

btw yes, that particular flat bar does look terrible. Bear in mind I used to lock this bike in the city centre a lot - that helped a treat :)

What brand is the stem?

Looks like an atomlab G.I.

If you say you are doing light XC I suggest returning the stem and upgrade to a more XC bar and stem. The atomlab G.I. stuff is big, beefy, and HEAVY, everything you don't want for XC. I would stay away from atomlab all together if you ride XC.

If it's atomlab, it's not a BMX stem, just BMX spacing.

It's the Atomlab G.I. Stem, yes. I think wethepeople's right about the spacing.

I'm not too worried about the weight, I'd rather a pound or 2 and assurance that nothings going to snap, I tend to ride aggressively.

Regards the bars I mentioned, are they comparable to MTB risers?

i dont think one like this is going to break on you http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/139...-Deus-Stem.htm

really any stem will do, your frame is more likely to snap than your stem.
