Snowbasin Ski Resort helmetcam video

Yep, it's summer biking on the ski resort. Take the gondola up... the only way to climb!!!

Anyways, I shot some helmetcam footage last weekend. It's the last open weekend for the summer. Snowbasin is near Ogden, Utah.

It's a little shaky, time for new suspension.

Here's a Hi-res video
https://video.google.com/videoplay?do...30207837993850

and here's a lo-res video for you "slower" bandwidth folk.
https://video.google.com/videoplay?do...34539521311038

Both versions are 4 minutes long. Enjoy.

If that's high resolution, I'm afraid to click on the low resolution

Nice vid.

Yeah, that's google video for you. It was 2MB per second, too! the low res was only 500kb per second, but sometimes you can't even tell a difference after it goes through Google's compression.

Better yet, it's time to use your neck, arms, and legs to better absorb what little trail shock there is at those very low speeds.

That will help more than new suspension.

Naw, been doing that for a year now. New suspension needed. I've got a Manitou Mars front fork, only 3 inches.

You need to get better then.

Stop blaming your equipment and work on your technique. I've shot helmetcam video on rigid bike (sporting drop bars and 27c wheels w/ pinner tires) that is both faster and smoother (less herky-jerky) than the incredibly slow video that you posted.

Work on your form/technique first, before blaming your equipment...

Sorry, really had to try hard to keep my attention during the clip. Just did not feel it at all. Maybee if the speed was higher, and the filming was smoother, it would have been more enjoyable.

Wow, thanks coach! I didn't know you had such strong personal feelings for my equipment.

I'll go out to the garage and apologize to my front shock, just for you. Although, I don't think my bike will appreciate your patronizing defensive phrases as much as you think.

I'm so ashamed I ever lost faith. I lashed out in vain.

I have no personal feelings for your equipment, nor am I your coach (obviously, considering the video quality). I'm just commenting on the incredibly slow, very bouncy video that you posted and noting that it's not the fault of your equipment.

It's your technique instead. Like I wrote previously, it's quite easy to capture faster, smoother video ona rigid bike with teensy-weensy tires, if you know what you're doing.

Lets see some of those butter smooth "ona rigid bike with teensy-weensy tires" videos John Galt. Since you know what you're doing.

Where did I write that the video is "butter smooth"?

I wrote "smoother." There's a difference.

You can check this video out, as an example.

Rigid, 700x27c tires, smoother and faster.

that whole ride must have been a decent decline, I didn't see you pedaling much in that video. Sick that you did singletrack on rigid with skinny tires

IMO still much, much less boring than posting pictures of bike parts in boxes.

Oh wow! Is that tire in there!

to each his own. i'd rather see somebody's new bike stuff than a video of someone riding really slow.

i guess if you saw the tire in the box ... made you look! 8 seconds of your life that you will never get back.

This one is for John. It is not only a pic of bike bits that I recently received, it also happens to be a crappy pic.

I liked both your videos, John Galt's especially. Don't let criticism keep you guys from keeping the films coming.

I don't need to watch Johns. I have seen most of his posted vids and his style is great.

I actually hadn't realized Utah had a lift assisted park/trail. Is that the only trail or is there some black diamond (arg I hate that term, buts its become universal)...trails?
