I must say I like my Bell Sweep R very very much. The helmet is much cooler than my old Bell Influx, the air ducts work wonders to keep air flowing over the top of your head. Plus it is very compact, this is very important if your like me and have a head that's too big for your body!

I just got Giro XEN and I love it. The reason: I have never had a helmet fit so well. This could mean nothing to you though. Buy the one that fits the best. I do appreciate the extra rear protection as well as Temple protection the Xen offers.

Pretty much all helmets offer the same protection - given thier purpose. Find one that fits your head & your price range. The rest is just "cool" factor; the more vents, the cooler your head will be & the more you will pay, and the "cooler" you will look.

I use my road bike helmet above 50°F and a Troy Lee Designs D2 Composite under 50°.

Specialized Air 8 I've got. Quite cheap but still, it's light but I've not yet fallen on it. Touch Wood.

Right now i have a Schwinn helmet i got for $14 from walmart 2 years ago, works great, fits well, adjustable size knob adjusts easily to whether i'm wearing a beanie hat, hoodie, or nothing. also it never comes unadjusted on its own (i've heard some helmets don't stay snug). I'm thinking of getting something like the skid lid for winter because of the fewer vents, and maybe keeping it through the summer as fewer vents would mean fewer bees and spiders getting in there. but i'd say try on a few helmets and find one that fits well, then just juggle between cost and looks.

If you frequently fall on your head like me, a skate helmet will last longer.
