Another funny story....Flak shows up at the camp,we start riding and he says "Mate, you've got a southern accent". I'm like no crap I've lived in NC my whole life. Then Flak says"I never would have thought you would talk like that". I guess I should have an aussie accent too?

When i first showed up i spent 20 mins looking for the camp. Then i see this kid popping a wheelie along the road and i throw out "girlscout?" knowing if i get any reaction at all, its him.

The look he gave me was classic

At least with Flak around my accent went 'fairly' unnoticed.

I think I'm going to head out for a ride right now...it's a bit cool though, so I can't wear my thong(s) and I may have to put on a jumper.

I hope the trail you rode was called Green's Lick - smooth and fast with lots of big rollers?
I rode up Deer Lake Lodge trail (664) to 479E to Sidehill Rd (145) to the saddle beyond which they're logging. I turned right and continued up Ingles Field Gap Connector (150A) and then down Ingles Field Gap. It had huge rolling water breaks that were tons of fun. You just pumped your way up and down with no peddling. Then, I took the forest road cut over to Ledford (660) and then down Wolf Branch (666). It wasn't terribly long, but it was fun. The best part was Ingles Field Gap for sure.

I showed up to the parking lot that afternoon and asked the first guy I saw about recommendations. He looked at my bike and was like "Well, on a hardtail, I'd probably go up this trail (Wolf Branch/Inglesfield Gap), but I usually go down that one." The guy had a 4" travel FS bike, so I was a little skeptical that it was as hard as he made it out to be, especially after some of the DH trails we did over last weekend. Luckily, I didn't listen to him and went down these trails instead up. I would have been wholly disappointed if I had gone up them just to sail down a fire road back to the car.

Where is this Green's Lick trail you speak of? I didn't see it on the map. https://www.cs.unca.edu/nfsnc/recreat..._trail_map.pdf

Boating was fun. I finally got on the Green Narrows Friday. It's tons of fun. It's like taking the sickest DH course in NC, running water over it, and taking off the brakes. Good times. Friday night, we kicked off the festivities with some Tequila and the World Series, which if you all don't know, the Cards won! Saturday on the Nantahala with the newbies and Sunday on the Tellico Ledges where we parked and hucked a nice 15 footer. For me, drops are much easier in a boat. Got home last night at 12:30am. That sucked. 559 e-mails in my work inbox sucked too, but it's worth it to have spent the last 9 days doing whatever the heck I wanted to do.
