my new bike

I've been building this for a while now. Hasve had some grief with dodgy parts and have had to send the whole groupset back, so now i'm waiting, impatiently, for new and shiney bits to arrive.

What do you guys think so far?

Thanks man! I did go for a carbon rigid fork first of all then changed my mind after i received it.

It is fast. I had it built up for a day, and oh my god, compared to my 12 year old Saracen, it's blistering.
No effort needed at all to get it moving.

NICE!
I have the same type of project (same conti's even, but you've got better wheels) in the mix. right now I'm using an old kona steel XC frame for it, but I'm looking to get something new over the holidays and switch over everything to it. Love the m5 frames, too, i'm looking at trying to find one of those, or maybe a genesis fisher.

Fork Q: What forks are/were on it, and why'd you switch out the carbon for the shock?
And what other bits are going to go on it!

the conti's are great, aren't they!
I picked the wheels up because the front one was going half price (result!!)
I bought the frame on it's own, without forks.
I decided not to keep the carbon because whilst i was going to be doing a lot of road work, i was planning on getting some shocks for off road.
It was simply that the carbon/titaniums that i'd ordered were faulty, and after some consideration i figured it was too extravagant to have both.
i figured that with some decent lightweight shocks would be fine on the road, especially if you can lock them out. The pace forks are plenty light enough.
To finish it off, I'm thinking mostly XT Groupset, but with XTR front mech and Hydros (undecided on whether to get DC or rapid fire)

Cool bike but why would you put road wheels on a mtb frame?

I would imagine those XT wheels would be good for offroading. Buy a set of beater commuter wheels?

Doh!!

I actually changed them this morning as i'm expecting delivery of some new bits and pieces this weekend, enough to take it out for a blast anyway.

and yep, the mechanic in my lbs said the xt wheels are pretty bomb proof. so off roading's all good with them. i'll probably grab another set of them for my slicks, coz as far as wheels go, they're pretty sexy.

These beefy enough??

Dude...I'd biff the shizzle outta those hoops. It does look more appealing with those TrailBlasters on it.

I love the look of it no matter what you do. I'd use the XT wheels with the baldy slix for commuting.

Get some DT/Swiss 240's with enduro rims for the trails. (I'm hard on {bits} as you call them)

BTW...are you from across the ocean? Not too many people 'round here say "bits".

I'd love to build a skinny little commuter that weighs less than my shoes. It'd be killer for BAFTW.

yes mate, i'm in the UK.

what's BAFTW? ahhh... back and forth to work!!

...... and have you biffed (not too many people say biff over here ) any XT rims before?
