Fullface or not

I have started to do a bit of off road biking (single track, trails etc) . Last week came off over the handlebars and landed on my atmos helmet. Helmet damaged but am OK. Am not tackling any thing technical or fast, but new to off road riding.

Should I get a fullface helmet or my atmos replaced?

Any suggestions on what fullface helmet provides the best protection?

If you took a fall to the helmet, you should replace your helmet regardless. They're not designed to take multiple falls.

Wouldn't it make more sense to learn how to ride better? You should never rely on safety gear, it's only a little extra protection and you can still get hurt pretty badly. Better not to crash in the first place. I ride at ridiculously fast speeds, few of my friends can keep up with me, but I rarely crash. I wear a regular mountain bike helmet and full-fingered gloves, but I don't want to use them if I can help it. Besides, what about knees, elbows, etc? Full body armour is not the answer. Learning how to ride is. (I know you are a beginner, but you can learn from this crash or get some pointers from more experienced riders).

I wouldn't say you need a full face, but maybe just a new helmet.

IMHO, the type of helmet you purchase is a personal thing. I ride technical trails and do not use a full face helmet because I don't like them, but others do. Just as long as you get a new helmet to replace the damaged one.
Oh yeh, welcome to the long list of us that have taken flying lessons over the bars. There was a thread on this subject a couple of weeks ago. A long list of members who regularly post on this forum owned up to their trips over the bars. It probably won't be your last.

It's really all personal preference. Personally I hate full face helmets. The only time I wear mine is if I'm jumping. Most other times I just wear a skateboard type helmet. My riding buddy on the other hand only wears a full face and he loves it. If you feel you need on and have the cash for one go for it.

I only wear my FF helmet for DH, lift assisted riding, or jumping...it's too hot for long rides in the mountains with lots of climbing.

From the description of your riding, I wouldn't go for the FF unless you're really uncomfortable with the open face helmet.
