Just wanted to thank everyone (Slcpunk21 especially) for helping me decide on parts and what to get for my bike. I finally have it fully up and running with 90% of what I wanted. Here are some initial impressions after an hour ride last night

Z1 Fr qr20 - This thing rocks. Definately changed the way my bike handles. I am having to relearn going from an 4inch exr which was stiff vertically (no damping) and very flex tortionally to a fork with 5 inches but very plush vertically and very stiff tortionally with a lot of little adjustments I need to get used to. I noticed an IMMEDIATE difference with the qr20. When I used to turn there was some flex and lag on the steering and then on the return some rebound on the completion of the steering. Now it almost seems to twitchy as every little movement moves my entire bike. This is going to take some getting used to On drops this thing just sucked it up and kept me going straight...in 1 hour this is definately the best purchase I made.

FSA pig headset - looks awesome...it works...its a headset

LX shifters - I didn't bother with upgrading my deore deraileur but let me tell you the diff between deore shifters and lx is like night a day. The shifting is a lot smoother with this one small and cheap upgrade...very cool

Tires - I don't know S**T diddly about composition or what is best or anything. I am not a good enough rider to usually notice small differences. I just ride. That said I just bought a Maxxis highroller on the front and maxxis mobster on the back. two things I noticed.
1 Mud flies off these things. I rode in some pretty sloppy sections and the mud was GONE.
2 - rear and front traction are awesome. Improved acceleration due to traction and better steering. Very nice and well worth the cost.

Hayes Hydros - Still braking them in. I may have some questions about making the front more powerful but so far they work fine ..

I will have picures ASAP as no one has actually seen my bike except Slcpunk21...but that means I gotta find a camera as I don't own any.

Thanx guys...can't wait till 5pm when I can go for a ride.

Awesome, congrats on the new parts!

Also, were/are you a member on Danimation.com or is that someone else with the same username?

Must be someone else. As far as I know I was one of the first on the inet with the username in the 80's when newsgroups first hit the bbs scene. ...

WOW...thanks for the props maelstrom! Hell man, you already had the parts picked, I just gave you some info on em. NICE Job on the bike buddy! She looks sweet! Now you just have to get your girlfriends bike up to par...so you don't feel bad when she kicks your butt on a stock Kona. Just kidding.

Can't wait to see some pics of you on the trail with it! If I end up getting up there this summer, we'll get some good shots of ya!

Too bad it is raining but thats the first place I am heading. The trails aren't quite right for riding yet but the dirtjumps are looking good. Of course I don't do that size yet...those look to be 6'5 footers ...
