Stumpjumper FSR Comp not in production anymore?

So I've been on order for a Stumpjumper FSR comp for about a month and I went in today to check up on it and the LBS said they stopped making them for the year. Only the orders they've received already will be filled. Anyone else hear this?

I've heard that Specialized filed for bankruptcy; the reason being for all the warranty claim turnaround delays.

I'll believe when I find real news about it. I haven't seen it on any major sites...it may be true but I never believe rumours...Running out of bikes is common just about every major company has at least one series of bikes that they have run out of. That is the farthest thing from an indicator.

I've heard that Specialized filed for bankruptcy;

GROW UP PEOPLE!

It's CANNONDALE that filed for Bankruptcy... NOT Specialized.

They're not stopping production... it's called being backed up.

The new BigHit's are usually an "Order Only Basis" for shops. (Specialized won't allow shops to STOCK them in quantities).
The higher end Specialized bikes for 03' are REALLY good sellers, and they're probably just back-ordered. Don't worry. Try another bike shop too.. you'll probably get a STRAIGHT answer.

Good lord.

Get an 03' Stumpy and don't look back.

In the days before I was going to buy my stumpy I got kind of paranoid that someone else would buy it. It was kind of silly, all things considered. So finally I go buy it, then come back a few days later to get some adjustments made, and there on the floor is my bikes twin brother. "Did you have another stumpy comp in the trunk of your car or something?" I asked. "Nah, we have a basement full of bikes. We have 2 other stump comps on hand besides this one. If we get down to one we'll order 3 more." Aparently they don't sell all too badly

Ha, that's so untrue it's funny. What's sad is that the Trek shop in our town tells people that all the time-maybe that's similar to how you heard this. As for reality, there's no bankruptcy and our shop recently got a warranty claim taken care of in under a week (they shipped the replacement before they even got the old one).
Back to the original question, there's just a backlog on those bikes.

Ok people, don't have a cow!! I guess it was just a rumour. I was set straight today by a friend of mine anyway, Cannondale was the culprit. And yes, I heard the Specialized thing from a Trek/Specialized dealer.

I had to look high and low to find an SJ comp, but was able to come up with one. The stories i've been getting is that they put alot more effort into the epic this year thinking it would be the biggest seller. All the fsr's they produced had been reserved by dealers and they would get them to them as soon as they could, but as for receiving extras after initial orders would be nearly impossible. I went to 4 different dealers and all pulled up the warehouse on the computer system and it showed inventory as being zero on them, so i know i wasnt having hot air blown up my......you know. There are still a significant number of these things being shipped. Its just taking alot of time. My neighbor delivers these bikes to dealers on a daily basis. Hang in there. Hopefully it will get there soon. If not, you may want to let your fingers do the walking to see if you can locate yourself one. Hope you get yourself one. Im sure you will really enjoy it.
