Thomson or Race Face
Im looking for a reliable and lightweight seatpost and I believe these two is my best pick, just cant decide which one :
Race Face Deus
+ cheap
+ lighter then thomson
Thomson
+ strong
+ has a proven desing
which seatpost because I cant deside?, I wonder why Thomson make their seatpsot 410mm in length instead of 400mm, it seems the extra 10mm made their seatpost to weight extra 50 grams which made it a bit more heavier and Thomson is more expensive then RaceFace. Need your help guys

Oh kay thanks, I think I choose race face because its cheaper and im not soo heavy. Anyway here is my problem, I dont know whats my saddle rail diameter, Raceface Deus seatpost only accept 7 to 8mm saddle rail diameter. Im using a 07 WTB Silverado rails and I cant find any info bout it rail length.

oops did i say rail length, I mean rail diameter, sorry for the typo. Well its because RaceFace states on their installation of the saddle that its rail diameter can only accept 7 - 8mm so I dont know if mine is compatible or not.

yeah, but Im talking bout weight, price and durability. I know that Thomson is the strongest comparing to RaceFace but its also more expensive and a bit more heavier and I dont want my Anthem to be any more heavier, trying to make it 13kg max.

well, Im looking for a reliable seatpost without spending too much money on, I would prefer lighter weight, that what I mean. I know that Thomson is stronger then RaceFace but its more expensive and heavier and after putting on some eggies on my Giant Anthem, it would weight almost 13kg, I dont want my bike to be heavier then 13kg

Are you racing? If not...then don't sweat a few ounces. 13kg (28.6lbs) really isn't that bad for a dually. Granted, I'd expect more than 3" of travel for a bike of that weight. My dually weighs 32.13lbs (14.5kg) as of my scales last night. I think it's fine unless I was gonna race it XC. It's be a decent Downieville'er.

well I do race occasionally, I already own a 14.5kg hardtail, I dont want my full sus to be that weight , no offence though, I just like light bikes, easier to carry and faster to pedal

nah, Im keeping my hardtail for training and skill building , I dont mind crashing a USD250 bike rather then a USD1.7k bike

nah, I think i'll choose RaceFace, Im only 150lbs (anyone here lighter? Whats your weight LowCel, Im very interested in knowing) I choose alu over carbon because of the previous posts about a guy got carbon on his butt

During race season my weight goes from about 165 - 172 pounds. I'm hoping to have my race weight go between 160 - 165 pounds this season. During the off season my weight goes around 180 - 185 pounds.

thomson posts have the largest clamping length of any of the posts i've seen...if you care. i think 41mm.
secondly, i have asked WTB what their rail dia. was and i believe they said 7mm. don't quote me on that.

How about one from Pricepoint. Their house brand "sette apex" is light & cheap!!
I bought one for my S.S. mountain bike, when comparing to the Thomson I have on another bike it has the same construction & weight. I'm not sure if it’s made of identical aluminum specs, so it might be a little weaker over the long run.
I weigh 200lbs and haven't had any problems. For the cost it I doubt you can find a better post.
