Manitou SX disc mount

The Manitou SX has a disc mount but it is the wrong spacing. Is there an adapter that will convert it to the right spacing?

I'm moving this to general mountain biking for you. You will get more help there. There is an adaptor. What brakes are you going to be using?

Thank you for moving this, I realized I put it in the wrong forum just as I hit enter. I would like to use the Avid BB7 mechanical disks with the Manitou SX.

This should be the right one, 6 or 8 inch?

+1
as entertaining as this thread is...

rushguy 12-20-06 01:41 AM

this seems to be the only damn thread i can get into. So I'll ask here. Where the hell can I buy a 1" steerer suspension fork? this sucks. All I can find is a RST.

Minesbroken 12-20-06 08:09 AM

somebody scrubbed this one nice and clean ;)

CaptMatt15 12-20-06 08:17 AM

yup :p

Ok The above mounts do not work. The Manitou forks have a 68mm post mount and the Avid BB7 brakes are 74mm or IS. does anyone have any actual experience with a working setup that they can help with? Thanks

Every shop carries, or can order the adapter.

Here is what you need. Click me!

Thanks for the fast response. I have been to what are the best shops in SLC and they can't seem to help me. That forum guy> can you tell me from the picture which mount I would need? Then maybe I could get them to order it for me. I talked to the tech people at pricepoint and they said they didn't have anything that would fit.

Brian 01-06-07 11:33 PM

If a shop in SLC can't, they're not the best shop. Mad Dog Cycles in Orem can order one for you. You have the 74mm post mount, and I'm guessing your rotor is the 185mm. I can check my tool box tomorrow, I may even have a spare, since I have the 203mm discs.

pcdarks 01-07-07 09:26 AM

If you have one and could get a picture it would be worth a thousand words. Then maybe I can get someone to order it.I've walked in with the brake assembly and an old sx shock but they don't know what to order. It doesn't seem that it should be this hard. Thanks for your help.

Sorry for any confusion! are you sure about that 68 mm? Most manitou's have a 74mm mountings that will accept a disc brake with no adapter,

pcdarks 01-07-07 01:37 PM

I'm sure it's a 68mm, I measured it myself.

Brian 01-07-07 02:17 PM

How old is this fork?

pcdarks 01-07-07 05:21 PM

It's a 1999 or 2000 Manitou Sx Ti

You're screwed. It is indeed 68mm between posts. Old Hayes may fit without an adapter, other than that it's not good for much.

pcdarks 01-07-07 09:03 PM

Thanks for all of your help. I guess it's new shock time
