converting from threaded to threadless
So i found an old Kona lava domb that i am really enjoying riding except for the a) horribly ugly threaded stem and the b) really ****ting stretched out position that it puts me in i was hoping to convert from threaded to threadless, any ideas were to start my lava domb has a 1 inch fork in it now. i'm at a loss since the headset fork area is the one area of the bike that i know nothing about.
thanks in advance Miyata |
new fork, new headset, new stem.. finding that for a 1" steerer might not be easy.

this threadless adaptor would be one way to go....this way you would not have to change the fork and still be able to use different threadless stems......its a very cheap alternative...

Marzocchi is the only company still making new suspension forks in a 1" steerer.
Good luck trying to find a deal on them. I have an old Trek that I was going to upgrade with some newer "decent" parts I had laying around. Decided that $300 for cheap forks wasn't worth it, considering I got the bike for free. |
If you don't want suspension, then it's easy...you'll have to buy what mccoine listed, but it is pretty easy to find.

Nashbar has a 1" RST Omega T6 for $99.95
May not be a SID, but it would serve the purpose. I will be buying one for my C-dale SS project after christmas. |
Suntour makes 1" forks
here is just one example, i am sure there are others: http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/SID...tail&tnid=1396 note the Crown race diameter = 27. you most likely need a 27mm or 26.4mm |
