A question of color..

Hi all-I know this may seem trivial, but it's naggin' me-I just got a sweet deal at my LBS on an '06 Specialized FSRxc Pro-they only had a large size left-I need an XL-anyway,I've bought/referred 8 bikes from this shop and the sales guy convinced the owner to let me order an XL for $50 less than the clearance price on the Large size(BTW-I'm saving $750 from orig. price!)-anyway,the only stip is that the 3 XL bikes left @ factory are unused demos-the demos were made in different colors from production run-they used blue on these bikes..and from what I see in '06 catalog-only womens' frames were that color-am I being too critical here?-blue is not a prissy powder blue, and I am saving some serious coin,am I just being overly paranoid here? The FSRxc is a great bike-anyone wanna gimme their 2 cents? Thanx...

To strip/powdercoat a frame, it'll be about $200 depending on where you go. That's not that cheap.

Considering what he's saving, it's cheap enough not to be worried about the color.

Also, to get my frame stripped and coated a custom color i'm looking at 100 Canuck dollars.

My friend got one of those blue FSR XC's and I thought it looked very nice. Much better than the neon green ones.

Go for it, man! Get the right size! BTW...you must be tall, like 6'4" or something b/c I'm around 6'1-6'2 and I'd ride a LG.

The blue is fine. It will look better when it's covered in dirt.

Do what I did, take out your stash of skating decals from back in the day when you thought skating was cool and pimp out your ride!

I think you should get it, the deal is amazing, and if you want to paint it later go ahead.

Am I reading the OP right? Is the only problem that this color was used on girls' bikes? You afraid you'll get kooties or something?

You bet. I love my FSRxc and I didn't let the color stop me from buying my bright yellow Rockhopper. Buy the FSRxc, ride it, then decide if you want to change the color. You might decide you like blue.

Thanks for the input,all...the blue is not that bad don't know why I was getting hung up on it-and yeah, chelboed,I'm 6'4,so the XL is a must-thought it was pretty cool that the owner agreed to order me in a new bike at the clearance price,it really pays to build a strong relationship with your LBS

I'd get the blue in a heartbeat.

Ever heard of Spooky frames? They were all powder blue and were KILLER!

Darren Barrecloth's SX Trail (Frame Only) is also powder blue and I think that color looks great!

Ride it with Pride! Throw in some white powder coated components and you'll get bonus stylin points.

My Anthem is Red Black colour, you cant see it on Giant's website, but the theme style is the same, just red upper and black bottom. I like the colour, but I hate its quality (get scratched VERY easily, a tipped of your school shoe and you can see scratches) So I went to my dealer and asked him to do something bout it, he sticked a black sticker on the top tube which made the bike looks better
