Older Specialized Hardrock-steel frame-1" steerer-odd dropouts??
Help.
I got this Specialized Hardrock frame-steel chrome moly decal--Craigs list-yesterday.It is 15.5"-small-so it caught my eye.I'm not a vintage/old bike knowledgable type forum member-I just know about stuff I owned, and I wasn't riding when this was probably sold-early 1990's I'm guessing.
What can you tell me about it?
1)How old?
2) Why the odd rear dropout-picture?
Thanks,
Charlie

Judging by the biopace chainrings I'd say you've got the time right. Late 80's early 90's.

Thanks guys.
Thanks guys. The vintage guys say pretty much the same~1990.
cyccomute-makes sense I guess-they aren't horizontal, but not quite vertical. They are also waaaay shorter than any horizontal dropouts, but are just a tiny bit deeper than most vertical dropouts.Thanks.
trin2du-I don't know anything about Biopace, but they seem ok. Still in business? Thanks.
lbthomps-Great minds think alike-crossed my mind to get out the grinder-if only to be able to run a slightly bigger tire by pulling it back more. Thanks
