I-Drive on a Trek?
I just heard some interesting rumors and wanted to know if anyone has heard confirmation on these two items.
#1 I heard Trek bought out the rights to GT's I-Drive and all their juvenile bikes (i.e. BMX) and that the adult GT's (Mtn bike, road, hybrid...etc.) will cease to exist. Is this true? Will we be seeing a Trek Fuel with a modified I-Drive? Time will tell, but I was hoping someone out there knew the "real" story. #2 I heard that Huffy, yes Huffy bought the rights to Schwinn. Wow, that would be a crushing blow to old man Schwinn, he's not only rolling over in the grave, he's doing backflips. Just a thought, "If Huffy made airplanes, would you fly in one?" Later Gator |

Schwinn owend GT, Huffy just purchased Schwinn. I havent heard that Trek what purchasing the i-drive tech from GT, er, Huffy. Where did you hear about that? |
Talked to a bike shop owner who sells GT's and asked him what was going on with them. I can't confirm or deny. I can't find anything out anywhere else, so I thought I'd ask here. This is always the best source for weird stuff like this!
Let me know! Later Gator Boomer |
If you find out anything, please keep us updated, i'll keep an eye out for any news on this.

Just found this.

Great link DG. I'm still amazed at how much in debt Schwinn/GT are in. What were they thinking? Did they not have any foresight? Schwinn is one of the most recognizable bike names in the world. Why is it that they are always in financial trouble?

Another link regarding the sale to Huffy.

Well, I guess it's confirmed. We'll be seeing I-Drives that weigh 50 lbs and made of steel at Wal-Marts. So much for a couple of great brands.:( :crash:
