"soft stem"

Greetings fellas.

I have a single speed mountain bicycle with a rigid fork. I ride the bike in trails and despite I have a 2.35 tire in the front inflated to 35 psi, I suffer a bit from impact in my hands and wrists. I think I saw in a previous thread a "soft stem", "spring stem" or what ever is called, it is an articulated stem with a spring inside to absorve most of the energy of the impact. I would like to buy such stem but I cannot find in the forum search or in the net. Please fellas, help me find a "spring stem".

Thanks

I wouldn't do it, those things were never exactly safe.

By chance I happened to use one for an entire week earlier this month. It was strictly on roads here in NYC though. No way EVER I would take one offroad though. They do make an OK commuter accessory though. Save your money and get a cheap suspension fork.

Suspension stems are just wrong. All the english you put into the bars will be destroyed. Any cheapo junk suspension for will be better than one of those stems.

Thank you very much for your help guys, I will buy a used cheapo front suspension.

Sometimes cheap suspension forks are worse than ridged ones. Get a decent air fork with a lock out. Then you can have best of both worlds.

I could have used a softer stem for that time it shattered at the bottom of a 6' drop to flat and ended up in my chest.
