How is this bike?

I am looking into the 2007 Diamondback Response Comp.. I want a hardtail that will take a pretty good beating.. my friends both have Haro V3's and they're just not handling it... the Response Comp is around $560.. I am VERY impressed with the bike. I just would like to hear some input on this bike, i see few reviews..

If you like it, get it.

So, how exactly does Diamondback compare with the mainstream guys like Treck, Cannondale, Specialized etc.?

Diamondback is a lower-pricepoint brand that mangages to pack a decent amount of value into their bikes for the money (think Iron Horse). Their distribution criteria must be pretty liberal, because almost any shop can pick them up as a secondary brand.

I think the geometry looks good. A lot of bikes in that price range seem to have a far forward handlebar configuration (100mm stem?) but the diamondback looks to have a shorter stem and the rider further over the back wheel than most. My $0.02.

Scratch the rest of the original response, I looked at the wrong bike on diamondback's site.

I love the bike, I just want to hear some input from people who may have heard or have any experience with this bike as far as the quality goes and long-term durability.

I'm gonna be getting my bike from Dick's Sporting Goods.. do they have any lower quality parts compared to the others?

Diamondback used have some of the best BMX bikes back when I was a kid. It was Diamondback, Redline, and Mongoose.

So what do you know about their MTBs?

ZeCanon 02-20-07 09:06 PM

No personal experience with the bike, but based on the pricepoint it probably has a pretty bombproof but heavy frame and... alivio and deore components? just a guess. If that's the case you can upgrade eventually but for most riding the stuff will work fine. Just make sure you take care of it.

Have to experiment. Go out and ride it, if you don't like it, sell it and get a different. Live and learn.
