Question regarding weights of bikes

Hello, I know that recently I have posted stuff about RM bikes and am narrowing my choices down to a Slayer or Edge (same frame). However I was curious about the weights of these bikes. My LBS said about 27 lbs for the slayer, but on the reviews they claim to be 33 lbs or so. Id rather not be a weight weenie, but I was hoping to build up a bike under 30 lbs or so, as this bike will be used for XC and agressive XC. Im guessing I should call RM about this, But anybody who knows Id love your input. However I am aware its not the bike, its the rider and am only curious in this case.

I would also like to ask if 4.75 inches of travel is too much for XC riding. I have ridden the Slayer and if the rear shock is set correctly(preload and rebound), it is very efficient and does not bob at all. At almost 5 inches of travel, I was amazed. What level of travel becomes to excessive for xc and agressive xc riding? Im sorry for bother you guys, i promise it will end soon.

I am not sure of the weights but I do know those bikes came in at a bad time. They were developed a few years ago as freeride bike to fill a hole. The problem is the very next year freeride bikes as we know it 6 inches travel a little heavy but VERY burly came into the picture. The left that frame out in the open. It isn't burly enough to be a real freeride bike and isn't light enough to be a xc bike.

All that said 4.75 is fine for non racing xc. That is a pretty low range on the travel of bikes today. It is also designed with low bob in mind so it is pretty stiff. :)
